RED SHIRT
LOOKOUTS

Red Shirt Lookouts:

An incentive program to award a red shirt to Volunteer Fire Lookouts that have contributed more then 100 hours, or raised $1,000 or more for the SMH Tower fund.  Only one shirt can be earned, and the person must be a working Fire Lookout as checked out in an active tower.

Charles White was awarded his red shirt on December 4, 2003 after putting in 100 hours towards the SMH fund raising effort.

Charles joined the program because of a childhood desire to work at the SMH Tower, but when it burned down he thought he missed his chance.  So as a result of the fire, he joined the ANFFLA to help do his part to help restore the tower.

Charles presently works at the Vetter Mountain Lookout and has kept a photo journal regarding his experience.
